* Qld school holidays. Note these workshops are consecutive. Book accommodation early.

Woodgate Beach is on the Qld coast just over an hour drive from Hervey Bay and 40 minutes drive from Bundaberg.  If driving along the Bruce highway, Anam Cara studio is 30 minutes from Childers. Woodgate Beach sits within the Burrum Coast National Park. The vista of ocean, sky and sand, backed with paperbark forest that sings with kookaburras, is the perfect location to come on retreat. The studio is purpose built, fully equipped, located in the township of Woodgate and within easy walking distance to a range of  wonderful accommodation options.  For individuals and couples the Woodgate Beach House complex is excellent value.  For those who like to camp NRMA caravan park is a 150 meters away from our front gate.  Most accommodation in Woodgate is 'holiday house' style, so it has a fully equipped kitchen. This also means, no room service. There are generally washing machines, but do check.  Groceries will need to be purchased at either Hervey Bay, Bundaberg or Childers shopping centers as Woodgate has limited stores.

The location is extremely beautiful and accommodation and travel logistics present a great opportunity for yoga friends across the country and from over seas to coordinate and plan a yoga holiday. With a maximum of 10 students you can be assured that sessions will support every body to participate such that practice is supportive and nourishing.

Travelling from interstate
When attending the 35 hour retreats, we are able to arrange transport from Bundaberg or Hervey Bay to Woodgate Beach if you provide flight details in advance.  From Sydney it is best to fly Virgin direct to Hervey Bay.  Other flights will go via Brisbane and from Brisbane it is best to fly to Bundaberg.  A taxi from Bundaberg airport to Woodgate is approximately $140.  Car hire is around $80 per day.

Assistance with accommodation when you attend Yoga Retreat Qld Anam Cara Studio
For the 20 and 35 hour retreats we will often pre book a large holiday house about 150 meters away from the studio. It has 4 great rooms, one with twin single beds, one with a double bed, one with a queen bed and another with a queen and ensuite. We book through a real estate agency and cannot guarantee availability.

Costing per person are approximately as follows:
Shared room, single bed $15 per night per person
1 x double bed. Private room $35 per night
1 x queen size bed. Private room $40 per night
1 x queen size bed. Private room with ensuite $45 per night
* During holiday season prices double.

Please email us if you feel you would are interested in sharing this holiday house.

The ocean has a way of showing us what goes on in her depths

Tuesday, 04 February 2020

Posture ‘adjustments’ in a yoga practice, are actually conversational clarifications.. the elements of heaviness, compression or spaciousness; of flow, or stagnation, are in conversation. The asana is a situation in which conversation must be had to harmonize the forces within the experience. A study of the koshas in a yoga practice requires that we learn asana, we study asana and we practice asana. This means the conversational process is valued – we are open to learning, feeling, being challenged to let go, to embrace, to hold when we want to drop, to surrender when we want to grasp; to experience support and space and to watch the choices we make and the results.. what washes up onto the shore of our lives – what choices, conscious, or in the depths are evident to us as we stand upon the shore of our own existence.

Life will smash the ornaments you make from your experiences. Better you learn to put them on a shelf.

Saturday, 21 December 2019

Life experiences are made into ornaments.. .. things that we glorify and hold on to.. things that we attach to for self esteem and identity. A teacher of yoga, teaches the practices of Abhyasa and Vairagya: Discipline and Renunciation. These practices develop clarity of perception. They teach us to put the ornaments on the shelf so that we may experience ourselves as Yoga.
